Gita is a talented musician, songwriter, a vocalist, and emerging South Sudanese artist, as well as a passionate photographer. Born Mathew Gita John on November 13, 2002, in Koboko, Uganda, he is the son of Monica Melesi Henry, a retired teacher and dedicated lay leader in the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, and John Sebit, a renowned tailor. Gita's early life was shaped by the challenges of the Sudanese Civil War. He began his education at Kanjoro Primary School and later attended Yei Day Secondary School but had to complete his studies in Uganda due to the conflict. In 2016, his family sought refuge in Uganda, settling in the Rhino Camp Refugee Settlement, where they continue to live today.

Music runs deep in Gita's family. His brother, Barnabas Samuel, is a musician and community activist; another brother, Jaiksana Soro, is a musician and peace activist; and his younger brother, Ronald Ladu, known as Taylorbeats, is a music producer. His sister, Selua Lula, is a backup singer and teacher.

Gita's musical repertoire includes R&B, Afrobeats, Afropop, Zouk, Rumba, and Dancehall. He sings in multiple languages, including English, Arabic, and Kakwa. Currently signed to Ganya Records, one of South Sudan's premier labels, Gita is known for his soulful voice and poignant lyrics, captivating audiences with his heartfelt songwriting.

Alongside his musical pursuits, Gita has a deep passion for visual art. He started drawing as a child, often losing himself in his sketchbooks. As he progressed through high school, he honed his skills in fine art and illustration. Today, Gita exhibits his artwork in galleries and maintains an active presence on social media, where he shares his creative journey and inspires others.

Gita is committed to exploring new artistic avenues. With aspirations to one day open his own studio and teach, Gita embraces creativity in all its forms, using music and art to tell compelling stories and inspire those around him.
